2022 Walter Awards Symposium + Award Ceremony, celebrating Last Night at the Telegraph Club

Join us for a conversation with the 2022 Walter Honorees (Andrew Karre, Malinda Lo’s editor will be accepting on her behalf), moderated by Deborah D. Taylor, youth librarian and literacy advocate. The symposium will highlight the recent bans and challenges on diverse books across the country.
The event is free and will livestream; attendees must register via Eventbrite. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required to attend.

Join children’s librarians and authors for a crucial roundtable discussion of censorship and tangible steps to protect the freedom to read. Librarians and authors will weigh in on this constantly evolving issue and will offer ways to bring a community together around protecting the first amendment. Attendees will leave with information about how to host their own local roundtable discussion. This event is co-facilitated by Pat Scales and a Joint Children’s Publishers group.
